Switch from an Android
Get ready to set up your new Pixel
Get started
Before you switch from an Android device to your Pixel, make sure you have the following items:
Your fully charged existing Android device on the latest software and its charging cable
Note
Please ensure Bluetooth and Location Services are turned on.
A strong Wi-Fi connection
Your new, fully charged Pixel device
SIM card tool, if using a SIM card
Important: A Google Account is recommended. Otherwise, you can’t download apps, and some content won't copy to your new device.

Pair your phones




If you are using a SIM card, you can use a SIM card tool to eject the SIM tray and insert the SIM card before turning on your device.
Turn on your new Pixel. Then, choose your language and region and tap Get started.
On your new Pixel, tap Pixel or Android device.
On your existing Android phone, tap Set up on the notification, or open your camera app manually.
Important
If you're setting up a device for a child, tap Skip. Learn how to set up a child device.
Use your existing Android phone to scan the QR code on your new Pixel.
Note
If your device detects a poor connection between devices, it may prompt you to transfer data via cable connection.
Prepare your Pixel



On your Pixel, enter your existing Android phone’s PIN.
Your Google Accounts will begin to transfer to your Pixel.
Your active Wi-Fi connection will transfer to your new Pixel.
Note
If your existing Android phone is not connected to Wi-Fi, you’ll be prompted to connect to a Wi-Fi network on your Pixel.
If you have a SIM card and didn’t insert it already, insert your SIM card into the SIM card slot tray using a SIM card tool.
If available, tap Download eSIM and download an eSIM from your carrier.

If you wish to set up your Pixel without a SIM or eSIM, tap Skip.
Copy your data



To start copying your data, tap Next. You can tap Express to copy only data that’s not available in your Google Account.
Tap Customize if you want to choose what to copy from your existing Android device, including apps, photos, contacts, and more.
If you don’t want to copy everything over now, tap Do it later. You can transfer data after setup by going to Settings > Backup or copy data.

During transfer, you’ll be able to explore Pixel’s most useful features, like Gemini, your built-in AI assistant. To use Gemini on your Pixel, tap Use Gemini. Learn more about the Gemini mobile app.
Review the rest of the prompts and follow on-screen instructions to turn on more useful features.
Tap any of the tiles to set up more features for your Pixel.
When your Pixel is finished copying your data, tap Done.
